Rusk Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services

Rehabilitation physicians, known as physiatrists, play a pivotal role in your musculoskeletal treatment. Located at CMC as part of its Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services, these board-certified professionals take the time to pinpoint the source of your problem through a comprehensive evaluation process. Based on that assessment, they develop a treatment plan, which may involve other physicians as well as physical or occupational therapy. Finally, they work seamlessly with this team of specialists and you to implement the plan, and monitor your progress.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services are provided by the expert physicians of Rusk Rehabilitation, ranked among the nation’s Top 10 by U.S. News and World Report and #1 in New York, every year since 1989.

Traditional and Alternative Rehabilitation Services

Physiatrists are experts in diagnosing and treating back, neck and joint pain and injuries, sports injuries, lumbar muscle weakness, chronic tendon pain, and recovery from joint replacement and other orthopaedic surgery. Their treatment modalities range from the medications and injections to rehabilitation (exercise, stretching, taping, bracing) to integrative techniques (acupuncture, meditation, bodywork).

The physiatry service also provides electromyography (EMG) studies, a diagnostic test which evaluates and records the electrical activity produced by skeletal muscles.
